RPMI 1640 Medium is a modification of McCoy′s 5A Medium. It was formulated to culture human leukemic cells in suspension and as a monolayer. Roswell Park Memorial Institute (RPMI) 1640 Medium has since been shown to support a wide variety of of mammalian cells, including HeLa, Jurkat, MCF-7, PC12, PBMC, astrocytes, and carcinomas. It has also been widely used in fusion protocols and in the growth of hybrid cells. A variety of RPMI is available for a range of cell culture applications.
RPMI 1640 medium with GlutaPlus supplement minimizes toxic ammonia build-up and improves cell viability and growth in an easy-to-use format.
